Check out these tips on how to achieve success through clear goals and set yourself up for a successful, goal driven year.
Here are four tips to get you started:
1. SET PERSONALIZED GOALS
Start by setting goals that are tailored to you, that fit your personality and that are rooted in your ideal lifestyle. Smart goals are those that feel personal and unique to you. They are based on your values and what your dream life looks like. They draw you in and inspire you because they are aligned to your vision in life. It’s important to start your GOAL journey by going deep and personal with yourself.
Success through clear goals are achieve by personalized goals. So get personal with yourself, sit down and describe your values, weakness, strengths, what you are motivated by, and even what discourages you. Once you discover what makes you YOU, it’s easier to navigate your specific goal setting journey.

2. CREATE ACTIONABLE GOALS
The next step towards achieving success is to create Actionable Goals. Actionable Goals are created through a process. This process is made up of three parts: Huge Dream, Big Goal, Mini Goals, and Daily Actions. The process is a compilation of tips to help you establish your own HUGE dream and how to break it down into tangible steps. Don’t be intimidated by the size of your dreamy goals, instead try these tips:
- HUGE DREAM
Start by dreaming! Sounds simple enough, right?! I heard it described like this once, ” Imagine that a worm hole just opened up before you and you got a glimpse into what your dream life looks like. Describe what you see”. Write it down and don’t leave any detail out. Essentially, you are creating a vision board so get creative (if you are the creative type) make vision board, draw it out, make a poster, get as creative as your heart desires. Make it a point to describe all areas of your dream life (personal relationships, finances, housing, achievements, how you feel… every detail). Go dream and document.
- BIG GOAL
Now that you have taken time to look into what your dream life looks like, it’s time to take action. Looking at everything that you have written down, what is ONE big goal, you can accomplish this year, that will get you ONE step closer to living that dreamy life. Write it out in a clear and precise sentence, as it will serve as your North Star. It will guide your actions, your choices and align your behaviors -after all, you are a goal getter who is focused on accomplishing a BIG GOAL this year.

- This goal has to get you one step closer to living that Dream life you previously described.
- Be big enough to take 12 months to accomplish (1 year).
- It has to inspire you.
- MINI GOALS
Next, it’s time to set mini goals. Mini goals are designed to help you break down your Big Goal, into smaller tasks that you feel comfortable carrying out. Think of these as mini tangible ways you are moving towards your goal. These will be small changes you can easily implement in a span of a month. You should end up with one Mini Goal per month (12 total). Re-write your Big Goal and break it down into twelve Mini Goals.
- DAILY ACTIONS
Finally, we have something we call Daily Actions. Daily actions help you manage your Mini Goals by helping you prioritize and intentionally choose daily actions that help you actualize your dream life. Consistent tiny actions have a MASSIVE impact on you, helping you develop positive habits and reshaping you into the person you were always intended to be.

3. TRACK YOUR GOALS
The third tip on how to establish clear goals is to set an end date. An end date gives you a deadline (a determine time period to stick to ) and it encourages you stay in the grind. It teaches you to embrace being uncomfortable for a time. You might want to push back on this point, but I encourage you to briefly live in moments of tension. The purpose is not to increase your anxiety levels or to cause panic attacks -the purpose is growth. Growth will only happen when we step out of our comfort zones for brief moments and learn to be okay in tension. Start small and build your time in tension and discover that living in momentary tension has lasting results and benefits.
You should also set markers along the way that aid you in measuring your progress. Progress markers can help you determine when good points of evaluation should occur. You can set up monthly, weekly and even daily markers that serve as assessments points for the effort you have put in. They can help you determine if you are heading in the right direction, or if you need to shift.
SO, make time to create the plan, establish the end date and create the progress markers along the way; doing so will contribute to your success.
4. ACCOUNTABILITY
Finally, if you want to achieve success through clear goals you need accountability. This means showing up and accomplishing the goals that you said you’d do. It’s taking personal responsibility for doing the work. Successful people often partner up with someone who will hold them accountable. Find an accountability partner, someone who is going to support you and check in with you about your commitment and the progress on your desired goal. Accountability will make or break your goals. Having an accountability partner is such a vital part of this process. Choose a friend, a college, someone that you trust to give you great advise.
